Demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed widely condoled

Jammu, Jan 7: The demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was today widely condoled across the length and breadth of state. Various social, political organizations, politicians, citizens organized condolence meetings and paid their tributes to the departed soul.
Terming it as a great loss to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Saif-u-din Soz on Thursday said that he was angusied at the demise of Mufti Sayeed.
"I express my deepest anguish at the passing away of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Sahib, Chief Minister J&K State, rather prematurely. It is a great loss to the people of J&K State whom he wanted to serve in different ways," he said in a statement. Sayeed was one of the seasoned politicians of India who had stood up for politics of secularism and pluralism.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Former Chief Minister of J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed profound grief and sorrow on the passing away of Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
In his condolence message, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Mufti Sahib. My heart goes out in sympathy to Mrs Mufti, Mehbooba Mufti and members of the bereaved family".
Former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Narinder Singh Jamwal condoled the demise and said that with the sad demise of Mufti Sahib, Jammu and Kashmir has lost a politician, who has no parallel in the state. Mufti Sahib will be long remembered as "Chanakaya" of state politics in Jammu and Kashmir, he said. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and Mehbooba Mufti for this personal loss.
Kehkashan organization of Poonch condoled the demise in a meeting organized under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sajjad Poonchi.
Peoples Democratic Party leader of Batote Zahid Parihar condoled the demise. State President All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations, RK Kalsotra condoled the demise. He termed Mufti as Yug Purush for giving reservation act. His demise at a crucial juncture is saddening, he said.
The officials, staff and students of Government College of Education Jammu also condoled the demise.
