Confused RSS takes ambiguous stand on talks with Pak
'Hinduism is no religion'

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 7: Gone are the days when the so-called nationalist RSS would take clear-cut stand on J&K, national unity and integrity and Pakistan. Also gone are the days when the RSS would claim that it was a cultural organization committed to Hinduism/Hindutva, Indian culture and Indian civilization. Also gone are the days when the RSS would hold itself aloof from corridors of power and speak for the Hindus and their problems as well as such persecuted communities as the Kashmiri Hindus.
The today's RSS is altogether a different organization. It is no more a cultural organization. It is like any other political party, which strives to attain political power and retain control over it at whatever cost. The only difference is that it enjoys power and plays politics sans any responsibility. It's no wonder many serious RSS-watchers describe the RSS as an "organization of power brokers". One extreme view is that "from top to bottom everyone in RSS is playing political games and taking care of its own interests and interests of those close to it". It no longer regards Hinduism as a religion. It has gone defensive on this issue of vital importance and call Hinduism "a way of life". In other words, the RSS today wants the minority communities, especially the Muslims, to believe that the Hinduism is not a religion and that Hindus do not belong to any religious faith. It no longer speaks for the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus. Instead, it considers them the main problem in Kashmir or an obstacle in the way of those who want to settle the so-called Kashmir issue with Kashmiri Muslims.
The point is that the RSS has lost its moorings and way. It doesn't know what it says. It is unfit to take any clear stand on any issue whatsoever. Its concept of the State is flawed. Its concept of border is flawed. Its concept of sovereignty is flawed. It is an outfit of half-baked ideologues, who also suffer from an extreme sense of inferiority complex. It wants to appease Kashmir and Pakistan. In fact, it is worse than the Congress and similar other organizations.
That the RSS has lost its way and deviated completely from its ideology could be seen from the stand that it took on the scheduled foreign secretary-level talks between the hurt India and Pakistan, which bleeds India by a thousand-cut on a daily basis. It has said New Delhi should cancel talks with Islamabad if strategically that is suitable; it should hold talks with Islamabad if suits strategically.
"The mighty (in this case India) should not shy away from discussions. If it suits strategically, then the talks should be cancelled. If it suits strategically, the talks should be held," said senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar while speaking at a book launch in New Delhi. Kumar served J&K State as Prantiya Pracharak for years.
The remarks by Kumar came in response to a query whether India should go ahead with the foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan in Islamabad on January 15. India is "mulling options" as regards the foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan -- scheduled to be held in Islamabad on January 15 -- in light of the terror attack at Pathankot. Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar is scheduled to travel to Islamabad on January 14 to hold discussions with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in order to chalk out a road map for carrying forward the engagement under the newly- announced "Bilateral Comprehensive Dialogue"
It was clear from what Kumar said that the RSS had no stand on the proposed talks between the two nations. It left everything to the judgment of the BJP. And this should clear all the air and establish that the RSS has no stand on the issue and that it would not mind if the BJP further outrages the already rather outraged and wounded Indian nation.
