| ReTs screening test casts shadow on concept of distance education | | | Danish Muzafar

Banihal, Jan 7: The decision of the state government to put the ReTs who have acquired degrees through distance mode from various UGC recognized universities across the country has cast a shadow on the entire concept of the distance education besides badly hitting the morale of such students.
A Post graduate student of first semester of IGNOU said that such a decision of the government had shattered their confidence and given them a feeling of being inferior to those who got their degrees as regular students. "Generally students who are poor and come from far off areas opt for distance education due to lack of resources and nor they are being discriminated against" he said. "If the government thinks that degrees offered through distance education are inferior to those offered through regular courses, it should take a decision to shut down directorate of distance education of the universities of the state and also recommend closure of IGNOU" he added. |
