SAMBA, Jan 7: The order issued by the Jammu Kashmir government with regards to winter "vacations" for school children has been ignored by some private schools in Samba district. The schools are open and regular class work is going on.
According to sources, a few Private Schools of Main Bazar area are still conducting classes despite the government orders to the contrary. The order had declared vacations from January 1 to January 14.
A student of class X said, "Though winter vacations are going on, we are forced to attend the school. The classes begin from 9am and we face problems given the extreme weather conditions.
Another student said, "Maximum schools in Samba are closed for winter, but we are still going to school in such a cold weather. We face too much problem.
According to the orders, we have informed all the government and private schools to remain closed during winter vacations. In case some schools are still conducting classes, then there is a provision to take action against them, said Chief Education Officer Samba.
