PDD launches drive to check overloading | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Jan 7 : In order to avoid overloading and to provide relief to the people from unscheduled power curtailments, special teams of Power Development Department (PDD) under the supervision of Executive Engineer have been conducting raids in several areas of old and new Rajouri town for the last few days. During raids the various teams lead by AEE Jatinder Singh have seized large number of illegal power appliances include heaters, boilers and induction heaters from various wards of Rajouri towns which were putting extra load on power transformers. Pertinently, due to overloading the main transformer at Thudi Poer station and feeding the old Rajouri town was damaged due to over loading and could be repaired after three days continuous efforts by the concerned officials. The seized appliances include heaters, water boilers, heating rods and other items were also displayed before the local media persons and officials also claimed that they have collected fine worth more than 20 thousand during last two days from the defaulters. The teams reportedly also disconnected several illegal connections during raids and warned the defaulters that strict action including FIRs will be registered against those who will be found to involved in this practice in future. Giving details, PDD officials said that drive has been launched to seize illegal Power appliances with aim to reduce power load which is resulting into unscheduled power curtailment in the area. "If the people refrain from using such appliances illegally as well as from illegal hooking, they can get rid of unscheduled power curtailment. Legal action, including fine of Rs 5000, will be taken against the defaulters if found again in possession of heaters, boilers, induction heaters using illegally" said a senior PDD officer. He appealed to the inhabitants of Rajouri town to cooperate with the officials of the department and stop voluntarily the use of such gadgets which resulting in overloading and damage to costly transformers. Despite repeated attempts and messages, Executive Engineer Umesh Parihar didn't respond to the phone calls made for his comments on this matter. |
