Srinagar, Jan 18: The young MLAs of the PDP have been expressing regret and anguish over their exclusion from the important meeting of the party held on Sunday to take a decision on government formation. Following the crucial meeting, former education minister Naeem Akhtar said that the party is moving ahead on the 'Agenda of Alliance' and the party president has been 'mandated' to take the final call over the formation of the government in the state. The meeting, held at Mufti's Fairview residence in Gupkar, Srinagar, was attended by a majority of PDP senior leaders including former party rebels Tariq Hamid Karra and Muzaffar Hussain Baig, also the party's core founders, however, invitation was not extended to several young legislators. "There were many young elected MLAs who also represent the party in their respective constituencies and their opinion also matters but they were not involved," a party leader told Early Times. Another MLA also expressed his anguish for not being a part of the meeting, which lasted for nearly five hours, presumed as major step in the process of government formation. "It appears that our opinion does not carry any weight for the party so we were kept away from the meeting," he shared. The young party leader added, "Our suggestions would not have to be necessarily incorporated but at least we should have got an opportunity to be heard by the party members." Following the demise of Mufti Sayeed in his office, Governor's rule was imposed in the state after Mehbooba Mufti declined to take oath as the next CM unless the official mourning period of her father was over. However, Naeem Akhter, PDP Leader said, "It was not legislators meeting; it was the core committee group meeting. There was no need to invite all the PDP Legislators." |
