JAMMU, Jan 18: A Munshi, at present attached with the office of a SDPO in Samba district, is so powerful that he continues to serve at one place for the past 22 years. Though he was transferred two to three times from the police station during these years, he got the orders cancelled every time, according to police sources. "As per the state transfer policy, no employee can serve at one place for such a long time, but no such rule is applicable in the case of this Munshi. He is so powerful that he even gets the orders of his seniors easily cancelled. He enjoys the backing of local politicians, including ministers," sources said. "The Munshi, during his stay at the police station, has seen the transfers of about two dozen SHOs and several SSPs and SDPOs. He knows everything right from the construction of the police station to the changes it has undergone during all these years. Even after the two promotions he got, he was retained at the same police station," the sources added. Sources said a local politician had kept him at the police station to keep him abreast of the day to day happenings at the police station. |
