PDD constitutes special surveillance teams to check power theft | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Jan 18 : The Power Development Department (PDD) Executive Engineer Doda ,Bishan Das has constituted special surveillance teams to check power theft and also asked people to refrain from using heavy electric gadgets during peak hours. Talking to media persons Executive Engineer Das said that heavy usage of the electric gadgets like heaters etc across Doda district especially during the peak hours is affecting smooth supply of electricity. "The Department in no way intends to go for the extra curtailment but the non-judicious use of power by the people would compel the PDD to go for extra curtailment," he said. Das further maintained that special surveillance teams constituted with an objective to put check on power thefts are conducting raids in Bhaderwah and Doda and whosoever is found violating laws will be brought to the book. "Each surveillance squad comprises around 5-6 people depending on the area and heavily relies on analytics and physical verification to detect power-theft," he said, adding, "this campaign will continue so that power scenario in the whole Doda district improves during winter. "At the same time, we are appealing people not to put extra load on the system, it would only lead to further curtailments. "We don't want Bhaderwah and Doda to reel under crisis but it all depends upon judicious use of power," he remarked. |
