Residential complex, shops gutted in Chhatroo | SDM directs Revenue Officials to prepare relief cases of fire victims | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Jan 27: In a tragic incident at main market Chhatroo late last night, a residential complex and three shops were gutted in a fire incident, the cause of which is yet to be known. No loss of life or injury has been reported so far. As per the details available with "Early Times", the building reduced to ashes in the said inferno belongs to two brothers identified as Ghulam Nabi and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mattoo both sons of Faiz-U-llah Mattoo resident of Passerkoot, Chatroo whereas three shops gutted in said fire incident included Mobile Shop belonging to Irshad Ahmed s/o Ghulam Mohammad Rather of Dadpeth, Tea stall owned by one Som Nath s/o Shiv Ram of Trashi, Chhatroo and a provisional store owned by Farooq Ahmed Malik s/o Ahmed Malik of Srinagar at present Chatroo. Sources also said, "The gutted building also housed a Cooperative Office." An eyewitness informed the "Early Times" that Police, army and locals immediately rushed to the spot and started fire fighting operation but in absence of fire tender that were rushed to the spot from Kishtwar took over one and half hour to reach to the spot. "SP Sanjay Parihar (SDPO Chhatroo) also rush to the spot and supervised the rescue operation," they said, and added that even though fire tender reach at spot late however they played an important role in protecting the adjoining buildings from burning. The locals have demanded establishment of fire tender service station in Chatroo Sub Division and added had there been fire tender service station available at Sub Division level, the property could have been saved from damages. Police has also registered the case at police station Chatroo and started its investigation to ascertain the cause of fire. Meanwhile taking cognizance in this regard, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chatroo Masood Ahmed Qazi has directed revenue officials to prepare the relief cases of the fire victims so that immediate relief as admissible under rule could be provided to them for restarting their business. |
