Tasaduq Mufti hints at joining politics | | | Peerzada Ummer Early times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 27: Tasaduq Mufti, the only son of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has finally given indication of joining politics, saying his father's commitment towards the welfare of Kashmir was the biggest inspiration for his return. Since the demise of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 at AIIMS New Delhi following with the stalemate over the Government formation in the State, speculations were ripe over Tasaduq's probable entry into the politics. In his recent interview with a one national daily, the 44-year-old Tasaduq hasn't nullified any reports of him joining the active politics in Jammu and Kashmir. Rather, the cinematographer has stated that now he would pay full attention towards the issues which are confronting the State which his late father has ruled twice since 2002. "Earlier I was doing it from a distance, but now I am here and I will give it my full attention. I know we differ with each other in this place but there is one common ground too - we all want to see a Kashmir where we and our future generations can live, we all want our home," says Tasaduq, "This was my father's vision. My aim is to work and make a little difference in that direction and to realise his dream." Such a statement has not only sent the clear message across the PDP cadre about Mufti's son assuming the vital charge but has also ended the speculations of some senior PDP leaders taking the Centre stage during the days ahead. Earlier, there were speculations making rounds within State's political spectrum that Mufti's brother-in-law and a former legislator Sartaj Madani would be accorded the prime posting in the PDP. Also there were reports of Muzaffar Beigh's possible re-entry into party's key functioning. Meanwhile, with Tasaduq making his consent over joining the active politics public, there are high chances of him being elevated to the top post either within the party or within the Government. Sources within the PDP divulged that since a week after Mufti's demise and PDP holding a party meet of which Tasaduq was the part, he even at present is continuously holding deliberations over the party affairs and strategy needed to be adopted for the future. Sources said further that the legislators meet which the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has called for January 31 will have Tasaduq's active participation and within days after that meet will be held, his role in politics will be made public. So far in the recent interview, Mufti's son has expressed his desire to work for the betterment of the sectors which merit Government's highest concern. He has prioritised to work for the betterment of the downtown areas of Srinagar besides adopting Columbia way of the sewerage treatment in the State. Only time is going to reveal what actually would be the fate of this 44- year old cinematographer who has won several accolades for his work in the past. His litmus test in politics is yet to come. |
