In Modi's Varanasi, BJP's slogan is Gantantra Diwas, Amar Rahe! | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 27: Only last month, BJP national vice-president Vinay Sahastrabudhey claimed in an interview to an international news agency that the problem of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was that there was less talent in the BJP than the Congress and that was the reason he was not getting proper persons who could be inducted in his Cabinet. "BJP has less talent than Congress as PM could not find eligible persons for cabinet expansion," he had said on December 31, an admission that left the BJP red-faced. What Vinay Sahastrabudhey said was not an off-the-cuff remark; it was his well-considered opinion based on his experience and long association with the party. It is a fact that most of the BJP leaders are politically and intellectually very illiterate or bankrupt. It's true of Jammu and Kashmir like it is true of PM Modi's Varanasi constituency as well as other states of the country. Most of the BJP leaders, including from Jammu and Kashmir, doesn't really know what Article 370 is. This, notwithstanding the fact that Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee laid down his life in Kashmir for ensuring the collapse of Article 370 and integrating the state fully into India, as also despite the fact that they consider him their source of inspiration. Ask any local BJP leader if he/she has read the Agenda of Alliance, he/she would say no. And, if at all any of the local BJP leader has read it, he/she has not understood it. Had they understood what the Agenda of Alliance stood for, the party would not have joined the government in Jammu and Kashmir. And those who understood were either thrown out of the party or were sidelined. This is a fact of history. Similarly, many BJP leaders even in the parliamentary constituency of PM Modi, Varanasi, don't understand what is Gantantra Diwas (Republic Day). This became clear on the Republic Day itself, when the local BJP MLA repeatedly chanted the slogan "Gantantra Diwas, Amar Rahe". He and his intellectually illiterate party men continued to chant this slogan even when one BJP man drew their attention to the fact that they were chanting a wrong slogan. This is the level of the BJP which is at the helm of affairs in New Delhi and in other states of the country. So much so, the BJP and its mentor RSS say that Hinduism, unlike Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism and so on, is not a religion. It's way of life, they say day-in and day-out and in the process they ridicule the very vast Hindu community in front of the fake secularists. |
