KISHTWAR, Jan 27: A major controversy came to fore in Kishtwar on Tuesday after a BJP leader who unsuccessfully contested last Assembly elections from Inderwal constituency occupied the front seat reserved for one of the two MLCs Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo of National Conference and Firdous Ahmed Tak of Peoples Democratic Party during Republic Day celebrations at Chowghan ground.
The enraged NC and PDP activists staged walk out from the "At Home" function organized by the District Administration at Dak Banglow.
They demanded immediate suspension of the officer responsible for allowing breach of protocol. While talking to Early Times, NC district secretary, Shabir Ahmed Kamal criticized the district administration for creating mess at the official function.
He said that the administration failed to observe protocol and instead BJP workers were given preferential treatment for some unknown reasons.
"A BJP leader was given the chair reserved for MLC in violation of protocol and in protest, the party leaders boycotted the "At Home" function in protest," said NC Youth President Farooq Ahmed Dev.
They warned the administration against appeasement of a particular party.
BJP's partner in last coalition Government PDP also criticized the administration for allowing BJP leader to occupy the seat reserved for MLCs.
PDP District General Secretary Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza said that the approach of District Officials while tackling the issue was unfortunate.
He said that occupying reserved seat by BJP leader is gross violation of protocol and the officer responsible for allowing such things should be punished.
Reacting to the development, BJP leader Tariq Hussain Keen said that it was administration that offered him the seat.
Meanwhile PDP has taken a strong note over the outrageous massage circulated by some Revenue employees through social media "Whatsapp" in which PDP MLC Firdous Tak was attacked for his absence from today's Republic Day function and questioned PDP's protest for occupancy of reserved seat by BJP leader who travelled 70 KM from Bunjwah to participate in the Republic Day function. While talking to "Early Times", District President PDP Sheikh Nasir Hussain said that party has taken serious note of circulation of derogatory and defamatory massage against a legislator by revenue officials. He said that party leadership has shown resentment to DC Kishtwar over the issue and are waiting for action against the guilty officials added that the party is also mulling legal option in case DC Kishtwar fails to initiate action against guilty officials involved in drafting and circulation of the massage against party legislator.
The sources informed the "Early Times", that DC Kishtwar has ordered an inquiry into circulation of the said massage by revenue officials and appointed ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma as inquiry officer who had been asked to submit its inquiry report within two days.
