Relief official removed following corruption complaint
Case of 2014 flood victims still pending

KISHTWAR, Feb 17: Showing zero tolerance towards deliration of duty and corruption, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar today removed in charge relief section with immediate effect after it came into his notice that the said officer had allegedly demanded some money for clearing a relief case pending in the Kishtwar relief section since last several months.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the relief case of Ghulam Mohammad Wani son of Abdullah Wani resident of Inderwal was pending since September 2014 and Tehsildar Chatroo in response to the letter No. 640/DCK/R Dated 9-02-2016 stated that the victim Ghulam Mohammad Wani had suffered losses in flash floods of September 2014 and his relief case had already been submitted in the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar vide Tehslidar Office Chatroo No. 248/TC/OQ Dated 22-09-2014.
The sources said that despite the lapse of over one year, the case was stuck in the relief section of DC office Kishtwar as a result of which the victim had undergone mental harassment and trauma as a result of which he (Victim Ghulam Mohammad) broke down into tears inside relief section room in the office complex after in charge relief section demanded graft from him for clearing the compensation cheque. As soon as the victim broke down, large number of people assembled including Mohammad Iqbal Malik, PRO to MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori who after inquiring the matter from the victim brought the matter into the notice of "Early Times".
While talking to "Early Times", Ghulam Mohammad said that incharge relief section namely Tutta Ram demanded an amount of Rs. 6000 for clearing his relief check of Rs. 15000. He said that he had already spent huge money on transportation and for stay at Kishtwar adding that the accused was playing delaying tactics.
After lot of hue and cry raised by the people assembled, the matter came into the notice of DC Kishtwar who without wasting any time ordered immediate attachment of the accused person and assured the victim that his relief case along with other pending cases will be cleared in next 2 or 3 days and directed Tehsildar Chatroo to submit a detail of all pending relief cases so that sanctioned amount could be paid to the victims.
