Udhampur, Feb 17: Manohar Lal, DDM, NABARD, Udhampur organized a 'Bankers Exposure Visit' to Self Help Groups in the district wherein various bankers were taken to Self Help Groups (SHGs) to have first hand / on site exposure to SHGs.
The Programme was held at village Laddan, Udhampur. The SHGs have been promoted by NGO named Gramin Pragati Sangathan with assistance from NABARD. V.K. Verma, LDM, Udhampur, Om Prakash, President, Gramin Pragati Sangathan and various bankers were present on the occasion apart from members of SHGs. Addressing the gathering, DDM informed that NABARD has taken initiatives in Udhampur district and has promoted SHGs in the rural areas. The recovery of loans is 100% in the case of SHGs promoted by NABARD in the district and it establishes the confidence of the banks in SHGs.
He shared that SHG is the biggest programme for Financial Inclusion as by opening an account of one SHG, the bank covers all the families of members of SHGs.
He also said that NABARD has taken a new initiative by opening the bank accounts of individual members under PMJDY. |
