Udhampur, Feb 17: Happy Model Higher Secondary School Udhampur organized Annual Sports Meet in the school premises.
Director Sports Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra and senior vise president of school games fedraton of india (sgfi), Ashok Kumar was chief guest on the occasion while Gourav Mahajan, DySP Headquarters, was the guest of honour.
Inter-house final matches in various games and fun races were savored by the students and guests. A colorful cultural programme was also presented by students on the occasion. March Past was performed by the students in their respective squads. The winners were awarded with medals and certificates on the occasion.
Principal of the school Dr Vikram Gulati welcomed chief guest and encouraged the students to participate in sports activities with full zeal and enthusiasm. He stressed upon the need of fitness with performance stating that disciplined and enhanced degree of fitness are the pre-requisites for any sort of achievement.
Chief guest speaking on the occasion asked the students to play with the spirit of competing with oneself rather than competing with others. One should excel in both studies and sports, as education is about achieving excellence in every sphere, he said. He added that Games and sports are an integral part of a student's life. A student should study hard to be successful in competitive examinations. But, he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health and vigor of life. Among others, Principal Shivalik College Muneesh Gulati, Professor Jammu university Vishwa Raksha , Social worker Vikram Slathia, Raj Guru state vice president volley ball association parents ,teachers and students in large number were present on the occasion. |
