Workers resent exploitation by ‘union leaders’ in Chenab Region 2/21/2016 11:43:53 PM Danish Muzafar Early Times Report Banihal, Feb 21: Self styled union leaders across the state specially in Chenab division are using innocent labororers to curb their rights for personal interests and benefits. Sources said that many self styled leaders and some contractors for their personal gains and interests using innocent laborers to make pressure on different construction companies in the name of union. The leaders are putting pressure on the companies involved in construction of various projects in the region to get contracts by misrepresenting the labourers. Maximum Labourers, workers of the region told Early Times that their genuine rights are being curbed in the name of unions and many of the leaders have established their union offices also. Labourers are demanding preference to locals in the ongoing projects. Labourores said that some contractors turned union leaders are trying to put pressure on companies using innocent labourers for getting contracts and commissions from the companies. In past many self styled union leaders earn huge amount in the projects using the same tact of pressurising the companies for petty self interests. Now the eyes of labour community is on Governor NN Vohra who already take so many steps for the welfare of the people of the state.These Labourers said that these companies and Labour department should became the answerable for the Jutice of the labour community and also take the strict action against the self styled union leaders who are trying to curb the rights of the community for their personal gains.
