Jammu, Feb 21: Captain Tushar Mahajan of 9 Para, hailing from Udhampur, attained martyrdom on Sunday while neutralising terrorists holed up inside the EDI complex at Pampore in south Kashmir. Leading from the front Captain Tushar received four bullet injuries and was rushed to the Army hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening. Along with him another young officer from Jind district of Haryana Captain Pawan Kuamr and Lance Naik Om Kumar too laid down their lives as the gun fight continued for the second consecutive day. The two brave officers shared a commonality. They were both children of school teachers and had joined the Indian army. Captain Tushar Mahajan, according to close friends, had joined the Indian army against the wishes of his parents. His father wanted him to become an engineer like his elder brother but he followed his passion ignored the pleas of his parents. Passionate about his job Captain Tushar struggled his way before cracking the NDA exam. He was always eager to join the Indian army and fulfilled his dream, a local resident of Adarsh Colony in Udhampur said. Large number of people had assembled in their house to pay their last respect to the brave son of the soil. |
