Poonch, Feb 21: The construction work on emergency complex of sub-district hospital, Mendhar, and two primary health centres (PHCs) in the area has been moving on snail's pace. Courtesy: PWD. The work on emergency complex of SDH, Mendhar, which cost Rs 4.06 cr, was started in 2013. "So far, the government has released Rs 2.06 cr, but the work has been going on very slowly. The new complex is likely to be equipped with latest equipments," official sources said. The 30-bedded SDH, Mendhar was constructed in 1987. It suffered damages in the 2005 devastating earthquake. Though the building was repaired, need was felt to construct a new complex including 24-hour emergency for the benefit of general public. The work on PHCs of Kasblari and Sanjoit in Mendhar is also alleged to be moving at snail's pace. "PHC, Kasblari is to be constructed at a cost of 94.33 lakh, but only Rs 10.6 lakh has been released so far. This project is also delay by PWD," sources alleged. Rs 10.6 lakh had so far been released for the construction of PHC, Sanjoit, against the estimated cost of Rs 94.33 lakh. The progress of work was also very slow, sources alleged. When contacted, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Poonch, Dr Mumtaz Bhatti said, "We have been releasing funds for the construction works on time but the work is yet to catch the speed. We have also purchased some latest equipments and machines to provide best health care facilities to the people of the district. I hope that the emergency complex of SDH, Mendhar, will be completed soon." |
