Atrocities, crimes against marginalized sections unacceptable, intolerable : Harsh | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Feb 21 : Hundreds of JKNPP workers today stages dharna in Ramnagar town against the heinous murders of several innocents during the last one year. The agitated workers raised slogans seeking the apprehension of culprits and booking them under Sec 302 RPC without further loss of time. Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister expressed grave concern over the spate the killings during the last one year in Ramnagar wherein six lynched bodies including four belonging to Scheduled Caste community were found with none of the criminals having been apprehended. He said that the criminal elements were at large in Ramnagar tehsil with no action initiated against them in view of political patronage enjoyed by them. He said that there were several episodes wherein people belonging to weaker and marginalized sections of society were thrashed and beaten up in full public view with the offenders going scot free. "The workers of a particular political party were openly threatening general public and workers of Panthers Party but no cognizance was being taken in view of political clout enjoyed by the offenders", he said. Farooq Ahmed Mintoo, Sarpanch Kirmoo said that his Panchayat members had even gone on a hunger strike in the past for seeking early action against the criminals which however had failed to elicit adequate response from the concerned authorities. Several speakers cautioned the administration to book the culprits at the earliest failing which they would intensity their protests and the local administration shall be responsible. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pushpinder Singh, Bishan Dass Sarpanch, Sanjay Singh and Vishwanath. |
