POONCH, Feb 21: By administering Oral Polio Vaccine to a baby at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch, Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Harun Malik in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Poonch, Dr. Mumtaz Bhatti todayinaugurated three-day pulse polio immunization drive in the district. Highlighting the importance of Oral Polio Vaccine in combating the potentially fatal disease, the Deputy Commissioner while speaking at District Hospital said that the drive is intended to administer polio drops to children below the age of five years in the entire district. "Oral Polio Vaccine will be administered in as many as 415 booths set up all over the district for this purpose", said the DC. The drive will also continue in the form of house to house visits by the field-level health functionaries to cover the targeted figure", said the Chief Medical Officer who has also pressed into service mobile teams to reach out to children living in the remote areas of the district. Dr. Bhatti has appealed the parents to bring out their children up to 5 years of age for immunization against polio and stressed the importance of Oral Polio Vaccine, in combating this potentially fatal. |
