SaMaPa Aalap Festival: Sitar Recital held 2/22/2016 10:55:13 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 22: SaMaPa Aalap Festival a very Scintillating and Grounded Sitar Recital held at Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu. The SaMaPa organized the annual classical, Sufi & folk festival at Jammu tittled "SaMaPa Aalap-Festival 2016. It is the premier and one of the biggest music festivals of the state. 10th Annual 'Aalap festival being presented by SaMaPa (Sopori Academic of Music and performing Arts) in collaboration with Department of Tourism Jammu, Academy of Arts, Culture and languages and Department information and public Relations J&K. Sitar Recital by Ustad Rafique Khan was performed at Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu today where in many dignitaries attended the function. The programme began with the lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest of the day Shantmanu, Commissioner Secretary. He appreciated the efforts put in by SaMaPa Teams. Students from Jammu Sanskriti School,Jammu presented welcome song. Ustad Rafique Khan ji presented a mesmerizing and scintillating Sitar Recital in jugulbandi" with the Pt.Mithilesh Jha who played tabla. The festival started in the year 2006 and over the years it has grown as prestigious music festival of the J& K State. The cultural feast which is specially youth oriented started by music maostro Abhay Rustum Sopori. Speaking on the occasion Abhay Rustum Sopori stressed on the important of art and culture for the young generation and asked them to take the mission forward and contribute to the rich heritage of the state.
