Kathua, Feb.22: A family got shocked to know manipulation in their property records that has been shifted to the name of another person without their knowledge or any deal and the victim family alleged that the Revenue Officers allegedly have manipulated the documents
However when the case came into the notice of higher officers of revenue department, they started defending field staffs and covertly backed the ongoing menace of manipulation of the land records of innocent gullible locals.
According to sources one Narendra Kumar of Ward-8 Kathua purchased a plot of 54 marlas in Chack Desa Singh bearing Khasra No. 432/237 in 2003. "Although he had completed property documents and he was taken aback when he tried to sale few marlas of his plot in 2013, on finding documents of his land to be manipulated and some kanals of his land were shown under possession of his next neighbor. And since 2013 he is running from pillar to post to get justice but till date nothing has yielded while the revenue officials are claiming no fault of theirs.
Another person Bhrat Bhushan s/o Narendra Kumar alleged that they purchased 14 marlas plot in 2003 and 40 after few months which was duly confirmed by Revenue officers and was covered by boundary.
"To their surprise half of their land had shown under possession of some unknown allegedly by field staff KD Sharma ( Patwari) who without informing the real owner has shifted ownership of land.
He said the Concerned Patwari and Naib Tehsildhar of Sona Rupa Halqa having hands in gloves jointly are creating mess for the innocent people while the senior officer Tehsildar is acting just like a spectator.
Another person Narendra Kumar, alleged that they have documentary proof of Mutation and documents related to 54 Kanal land but to their surprise another person has obtained documents for 13 marlas of land prepared in 2013.
When he approached the concerned Patwari KD Sharma, he however accepted mistake but offered a surprise suggestion i.e. to cover other adjoining land illegally as compensation.
Although these similar cases of manipulated revenue records highlighted issue of different persons but they have same agony and pain associated with and is a tip of iceberg as many people have lodged their complaints in previous years against Field staff of Revenue department alleging manipulation of documents of their respective lands.
The agitated over the cases the aggrieved and locals demand inquiry of assets of concerned revenue officials which is actually exceeded to their known source of income.
The aggrieved who have visited revenue offices many a time and raised their respective issues now seemed to have lost faith in Revenue Officials and appealed the Governor of State N N Vohra to intervene in their case and set up a inquiry panel.
When approached to Tehsildar Kathua, Avtar Singh Jasrotia, he briefly assured to find out the root cause of the manipulation of revenue records. He assured serious step against officials involved in the manipulation of documents.
