'AFSPA must to fight Pak sponsored proxy war in JK' | Terrorists striking near Chinar Corps Hqrs, Sgr city an eye opener | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 22: Terrorists engaging security forces for 3-days at EDI building near Sempora Pampore, just a few kilometers away from Srinagar city has made the politicians, who are demanding revocation of the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from Jammu and Kashmir, eat a humble pie and has proved that AFSPA is required to fight the Pakistan sponsored proxy war in the State. A defence analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The three terrorists who were killed today kept forces busy for nearly three days and we lost our five soldiers, including two Army Captains. This should serve as an eye opener for the people who oppose revocation of AFSPA and leave no opportunity to beat the trumpet that normalcy has returned to Jammu and Kashmir." He said, "Army and other Central forces have been opposing the revocation of the AFSPA from day one. Unfortunately some politicians have turned revocation of this important and vital act as a political issue and it's not acceptable." The analyst said, "Terrorists striking just a few kilometers away from main Srinagar city and Badami Bagh cantonment, which houses the headquarter of Army's Chinar Corps, is an ample proof about Pakistan has not given up even after facing humiliating defeat in the proxy war which it had launched 25-years ago in Jammu and Kashmir." A retired Army official said, "One hopes attack on EDI would silence the politicians who for serving the petty political interests take refuge in AFSPA revocation and mislead people by raising hollow slogans. It's unfortunate that a few politicians unwittingly play into the hands of the enemy." He said, "AFSPA is required for soldiers to operate freely to fight the enemy who believes in backstabbing and leaves no chance to bleed us. AFSPA is needed to fight these terrorists who mingle with the local people and strike when they get a chance. Our jawans are fighting a faceless enemy." Referring to the recent demand of PDP to revoke AFSPA before the Government formation takes place, the official said, " The EDI gunfight has proved that this is a vital law and if it is revoked it would demoralize our brave soldiers who are laying their lives to save the sovereignty and integrity of the country." "Revocation of AFSPA falls within the domain of the security agencies and I believe politicians should stay away from raking this issue, Linking the repeal of this law with Government formation is really unfortunate," the official added. He said, "Discussion should not revolve around AFSPA it has to go beyond that. Time has come for political leaders to take a bold decision and allow the Indian Army to destroy the terrorists camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, so that we don't lose anymore of our jawans and officials. We need to give befitting reply to terrorists and their mentors who are sitting across the Line of Control." |
