Early Times Report Jammu, Feb, 22: The two-day mega multi-lingual conference organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages concluded on Monday at Abhinav Theatre here, with the delegates resolving to work for promotion and protection of various languages spoken in the state. According to press release, the conference which was attended by more than 700 delegates comprising noted writers, poets, cultural activists, scholars and intellectuals was organized to coincide with the International Mother Tongue Day and to celebrate the cultural diversity of the state. The concluding day featured two technical sessions in which papers on Balti, Pahari, Shina, Hindi, Ladakhi, Punjabi and English languages were read out, discussing the challenges and prospects to these languages in the context of the Jammu and Kashmir state. The noted Scholars of the various languages who read their papers in first and second sessions included Sadak Ali Sadak , Rajanazar boonayazi , Masod Samon and M. K Santoshi , Dr. Lalit Gupta , Jeming yelson and Kamal kashmiri respectively. Each paper was followed by lively discussion and questions in which suggestions and proposals for the protection of the state languages were put forth. The delegates congratulated the Cultural Academy and its Secretary Dr Aziz Hajini, for organizing such a conference at such a large scale on a challenging topic.
