Negating significance of tricolor especially by former CM is 'naivety': Bijral | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 22: 'Negating the importance of a flag in a republic, by the politician especially a former CM, is naivety, commented S S Bijral IGP (Rtd), the spokesperson of state BJP. Bijral's reaction came to tweet of NC working President Omar Abdullah at the micro blogging site Twitter where he commented to HRD Ministry order for hoisting national flag at Central Universities in the country - "it will not help to solve the problems of alienation and instil patriotic fervour amongst the youth at large." Bijral said Central University at Jammu is hoisting National Flag from day one. "It's mockery that essentiality of flying national flag at Central University was required to be highlighted to one who had proudly served under National Flag as MoS External Affairs in NDA govt at Centre lead by then PM Vajpayee, Bijral added. Taking a dig upon NC's response, BJP Leader further stated that the NC leadership would do well to worry about NC alienation from masses when its strength is retrogressively dwindling and come to only 15 from long enjoyed absolute majority. "The situation, political and economic, prevailing in state is direct result of misrule and en mass corruption fostered upon people for long by NC and Congress with title of second most corrupt state after Bihar earned," he said. He added, "Having been worst exploited politically for long, the awakened masses routed both Congress and National Conference parties in 2014 putting up their trust in People Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). "It would serve best the cause of National Conference and also of the state if NC party leadership instead of raising sensitive and critical issues of National flag introspect about causes for which awakened voters of state rejected them enmass at the hustling, Retd IGP Bijral quipped, and underlined that National flag will not solve the problems but shall firm up the identity of 'those served' and 'serving' for deservingly addressing the problems. |
