Reduction in food grain quota, JKKT holds protest | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, Feb 22: JK Kisan Tehreek activists today held protest against the reduction in the food-grains quota to 5 kgs per head per month. The rally started from Wazir Bagh and culminated near DC office. This morning hundreds of workers holding placards, banners raising slogans against the government's decision to implement National Food Security Act (NFSA). "By virtue of which the ration quota of the families has drastically been reduced to 5 kgs per person per month which is by any means far less than consumption level. The protestors termed the government decision purely anti-people", they said, adding that the NFSA applies in respect of the souls on the basis of 2011 census which is gross injustice for lacs of new borns from 2011 upto date. While addressing the rally, G.N.Malik General Secretary demanded that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) be implemented in the state in light of the CPI (M) resolution on the subject that was unanimously adopted by the Legislative Assembly on 27.08.2014 for provision of 35 kgs ration to each family @ Rs.2/- per kg.per month. They later on handed over the memorandum addressed to the Governor through DC Anantnag demanding implementation of the above mentioned resolution regarding provision of 35 kgs of ration @ Rs.2/- per kg. per month to each family. Among others, Prof. Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, Ghulam Ahmad Ganie District President Kisan tehreek addressed the rally. |
