KGBV teachers' hunger strike enters 7th day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 22 : The ongoing hunger strike of KGBV teachers in support of their demands under the banner of All J&K KGBV Employees Association (AJKKGBVEA) entered seventh day here today. In a press statement issued by the president AJKKGBVEA Mymoona Khan termed the attitude of higher authorities of education department as inhuman towards their legal and genuine right of regularization. She expressed her concern on the deteriorating health conditions of KGBV female teachers and their infants who are on hunger strike at Press Club Jammu for the last seven days. Condemning the criminal silence of department of education over the plight of KGBV teachers Mymoona Khan said that they have been moving from pillar to post for regularization of their services. She mentioned that it is a matter of concern that the teachers of KGBV were appointed on the analogy of ReT which has a strict policy of regularization after the completion of five years of service. She said that 700 teachers were appointed in 99 KGBVs of the state. Only 90 teachers were regularized rest have completed five years in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 who are still waiting for regularization for the last four years. Despite the fact former Education Minister and Commissioner Secretary School Education department have promised in May 2015 in front of electronic and print media that the regularization orders of KGBV teachers will be issued within one month when KGBV teachers sat on sixteen days long hunger strike in the premises of DSEK from May 8 to 23 but the assurances made could not take a concrete shape. |
