Udhampur, Feb 26: The different developmental projects started by district administration last year could be boon for local residents in coming days as the work undertaken central funded projects by administration is going on war footing now a days. According to information District Administration, Udhampur, has initiated the process of construction of 445 school buildings on war footing especially when the construction cum repair work for these schools buildings were long awaited since nine years due to many reasons like high cost, land disputes and other reasons since 2007-08. According to Deputy commissioner Udhampur Dr Sahid Iqbal Choudhary Process for construction of 445 abandoned school buildings was started in July last year to have these schools constructed. "The construction phase manner was taken in September last year, he added. He added that construction of 76 schools was started through Panchayats, and around 200 schools by Village education committees (VEC) and remaining under MGNREGA scheme. "To ensure the time bound of these School buildings district administration has adopted a strict attitude in this regard and two weeks back has reprimanded around 100 officers and officials withholding their salaries as their work progress was very slow, he said underlining the accountability of officials concerned for the time bound completion of these public welfare projects. "Administration has started work on all 360 by buildings by resolving 59 land disputes. He said adding, "more than one crore has been provided under MGNREGA as gap funding." Pertinently District Administration has constructed 682 toilets in the schools across the district within three weeks last year under 'Swachh Vidalaya Abhiyan' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi through dedicated teams working round the clock. Yet in another move the district administration under 'Rahat' initiative has initiated a unique and innovative project 'Rahat' for construction of more than 110 foot bridges near schools and hamlets in remote areas of the district last year with the aim to facilitate the movement of students, local inhabitants and livestock in rainy season and to eliminate loss of life and property due to flooding of rivulets every year. |
