jammu, Feb 26: Two senior police officers, one of the rank of SSP and other of SP rank, have been given no posting for the past some time as mark of punishment for their political connections.
Both were alleged to have developed close proximity with some ex-Ministers who had been managing their postings, police officers said.
While both of them had a good track record, they were not being posted anywhere for their alleged political links, the sources added.
The SP is known for his good work in State police circles. A Union Minister had got him posted in his department after the formation of Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre. Later, he remained attached with another politician, who was a Minister in the BJP-PDP Government. "Since there is now Governor’s Rule in J&K, the SP does not have any work to do. He is attached with PHQ and has been given no posting," sources said.
The SSP held many important postings during the erstwhile NC-Congress Government. When the BJP-PDP Government took over in March 2015, he was SSP of a district in Jammu region. Even as the new Government knew that he was a man of the previous Government, it did not touch him for a few months, but ordered his attachment with PHQ in October 2015. Since then he continues to be with PHQ.
"He has no work to do at the PHQ and goes there only to mark his daily attendance," sources informed. |
