It is DSE v/s Teachers Forum | After police complaint against him, teachers threaten to launch stir | | Javaid Naikoo
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 26: A day after Teachers Forum lodged a police complaint against Director School Education (DSE) Shah Faisal for allegedly closing their office, angry teachers today said that they would move court and launch a statewide agitation against him. Teachers, who today protested under the banner of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), accused DSE of burning wallpapers and union documents in their office on Thursday without serving them any notice. They also burnt the effigy of the director and raised slogans against him, alleging that he had closed down their office at Bemina in Srinagar in an 'undemocratic' manner. Since police did not register FIR on their complaint, they had no option other than moving court and launching a statewide stir. "We filed a complaint with police and urged higher ups of state administration to take action against Faisal but nothing has been done so for. We have now decided to launch statewide agitation against him from February 29 and move court tomorrow,"EJAC president Qayoom Wani told Early Times. The teachers said if government wanted to save education department, it must order transfer of Faisal. There have been many conflicts between teachers and Faisal ever since he has taken the charge of DSE. On Thursday, Faisal, according to teachers, reached DIET office at Bemina and allegedly asked his subordinates to break open the locks of their union office and burnt posters and other material in the office. After this incident, a group of teachers rushed to Parmipora police station with a formal complaint against Faisal. The teachers said their union office existed inside DIET complex for the past 10 years. The director should have informed them in advance to vacate their office, they felt. The gap between DSE and teachers started widening during PDP-BJP rule when he had tried to implement court directions asking for modification in education system after an incident of a Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) applicant failed to write an essay on cow in the high court premises. The relations had further worsened after a video of EJAC president, in which he had allegedly used rough language against DSE, had gone viral on social networking sites. Despite repeated attempts, Faisal could not be contacted for his comments. |
