JK Bank for preservation of culture, heritage | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 26: J&K Bank reiterates its commitment to obligations and duties towards society, culture, and heritage of the state. Preserving the socio-cultural heritage of the state, the bank continues to maintain and develop many heritage sites, parks and gardens across the state. Badamvaer, which has been restored to its past glory by the bank stands as a glaring example of the bank's commitment towards heritage and culture of this place. In this connection, a report published in a local daily titled "JK Bank plans demolition of heritage building" near bund that houses the bank's Polo View Business Unit (Branch), has no basis and is far from truth. Although the bank has stated its position on this story in the report itself but once again we would like to put on record that the bank is only going to execute some internal renovation of the building while keeping its heritage character intact. Pertinently, September 2014 floods had caused severe internal damages to the building and at the moment the building has been declared unsafe. The bank subsequently approached the competent authority i.e. SMC Srinagar for permission to repair and renovate the interiors of the building and has already got approval in this regard which has been granted to the Bank for execution of internal repairs of the existingthree storied building by way of retrofitting and restrengthening of the existing structure without any change in the heritage character of the building. |
