PSA assails policies of govt, demands support for pvt schools | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 26 : Lashing out at the new policies of the state government, the Private Schools Association (PSA), Jammu said today that a number of challenges are being presented to discourage the private schools which are working for the welfare of mankind by spreading literacy. Addressing a press conference here, Prof J L Kotwal said that, slow poisoning by the agencies of the government has created misconception, ill will and hatred in the society towards Private Schools recognized/affiliated by the state government. He further said that all private schools are facing teething problems adding that education is a priority for Indians and to keep pace in development and competition, encouragement of this sector should be taken on priority. But it is unfortunate that today's education has become a means of cheap politics. Speaking on the occasion, president of the Association Kamal Gupta demanded that as per Sub section (1) & (2) of section 22 of School Regulatory Act 2002 while constituting a state Education Advisory Board for obtaining advice pertaining to the education policy and administration, the representatives of the J & K Private Schools Association should be inducted for the effective education policy. Besides, he demanded the rules made by the government as per section 29 of School Regulatory Act 2002 in the SRO 123 are discriminatory for the Private schools only. The agencies forget that same rules are applicable for the government schools, ETT/ NTT also. So amendment in this SRO is needed in consultation with the stakeholders. Gupta also sought deletion of commercial laws imposed on the private schools and also codify the nature whether this venture is profitable or not. |
