Files of Balakote shelling victims biting dust in DC's office | | | MS Nazki
Early Times Report
Poonch, Feb 26: The victim families of Balakote shelling have expressed concern over the lackadaisical approach of the administration which failed to provide them compensation who lost their kin including a Sarpanch and give others sustained injuries in indiscriminate shelling by neighbouring country on intervening nights of August 14-15, 2015, sources said. Alleging the administration of the district as pathetic towards the families of Balakote shelling, they said that though the politicians including the then Dy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, PDD Minister Altaf Bukhari and MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Mehbooba Mufti who visited the areas after the shelling which claimed seven precious lives including a sarpanch and 5 person sustained severe injuries had promised to grant an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to each family who lost their kin but the irony was the fact that only Rs. 1 lakh was given to them while as injured were left high and dry the sources said. They further said that Red Cross also has announced Rs. 5000 in favour of each injured but nothing was given to them. The files were allegedly by biting the dust in the office of District Development Commissioner, Poonch. It is pertinent to place on record that on intervening nights of August 14-15, 2015, Pakistani troops started indiscriminate shelling in civilians areas falling under Balakote sector near LoC in district Poonch leaving 7 persons killed and five persons killed and five others, some critically injured but the state government showed only lip-sympathy towards these hapless people instead did nothing for their betterment of life who constantly face the wreath of our neighbouring country, sources added. Meanwhile Balakote front youth president Zaheer said the big promises by the politicians turned out to be only hollow where as people were expecting a helping hand from them but the height of things can be gauged from the fact that their families were not even considered for even the due compensation promised earlier as 7 months or so have lapsed, they said. |
