Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 11: Lashing at MLA Langate engineer Rasheed over his accusations against NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, additional general secretary of
NC Mustafa Kamaal said that it was Sheikh Abdullah who freed peoplelike Rasheed from the clutches of Pakistan in history. Over Engineer Rasheeds accusations that "it was Sheikh Abdullah's confusing and contradicting role spread over decades that helped in sabotaging U.N resolutions on Kashmir", Kamaal said that "where was Rasheed when sheikh Abdullah by virtue of his 'sound thought process' stopped attack of Qabaili forces of Pakistan on Kashmir and informed whole world about Kashmir issue by single handedly taking kashmir issue to UN."
"Does Rasheed know why in 1953 Sheikh Sahab was put behind bars and who freed Kashmiris from the clutches of Pakistan including him also. is Rasheed aware that whole Kashmir was in shambles including his area then and it was Sheikh Abdullah who gave people like engineer Rasheed representation at international forums, doesn't he know that till 1964 we were free and it was Sadiq Sahab who sabotaged that freedom,Plz Tell Rasheed sahab that UN Resolutions are there for Kashmir and nobody can sabotage and you don't worry for anything."Mustafa Kamaal told Early Times Referring to Omar Abdullah's statement that NC has no objection if Kashmiris are given right to self determination, Kamaal said that "had Sheikh Abdullah sabotaged UN Resolutions on Kashmir then the condition of right to self determination on Kashmir issue till would have been nowhere in books of UN."
Earlier today while welcoming Omar Abdullah's statement wherein he reportedly has said that he has no objection if Kashmiris are given right to self-determination, Engineer Rasheed said that Pakistan has never been denying implementation of terms and conditions required to be fulfilled for the plebiscite.
As per a statement Rasheed while addressing public meetings at Rambeelgarh Pattan and Zoonimar Srinagar said that it was Late Sheikh Abdullah's "confusing and contradicting" role spread over decades that helped in sabotaging UN resolutions (on Kashmir). Rasheed said that "while Government of India tried to bury the issue by consuming time from last 50 years, it was again NC which diluted its stand and stabbed from behind in 1999 by proposing autonomy as an alternate to plebiscite and later PDP made things further easier for India by inventing so called Self-Rule."
Rasheed alleged that Omar Abdullah cannot run away from his "dubious" role in sabotaging resolution in Jammu and Kashmir assembly, seeking clemency for Afzal Guru and just saying that he doesn't want to speak why Jammu and Kashmir assembly couldn't pass the resolution, the way Tamil Nadu assembly did, as it may add salt to the injuries of Guru's family is nothing but a short cut to hide his own failures related to Afzal Guru's hanging and incidents thereafter. MLA langate engineer Rasheed was in news headlines last year for hosting a beef party at MLA Hostel here, a move opposed by one BJP leader of Jammu later in Assembly complex by allegedly thrashing Rasheed for the act.
