Officials' vehicles allegedly being used for personal purposes

poonch, Mar 11: Various austerity measures announced by the government aimed to cut costs by curbing the rampant misuse of government vehicles are being openly flouted by some government officials who using their official vehicles for their personal uses also. Pertinently Government issues these vehicles to its officers for officials' works only but it is seen that many government officials in Poonch are allegedly misusing their official vehicles by putting them for their personal use.
Sources said that many district level officers are using government vehicles issued to them for their personal/family uses. Meantime some members of NGOs and eminent citizens from Poonch alleged that the vehicles having "J&K Government" written on front could be seen ferrying families of officials or other people of acquaintance of officers.
Saheem Jaffar a social activist has demanded action against officers who are using official vehicles for their personal uses as they are not only flouting austerity measure but also proving burden on govt exchequer.
