Early Times Report jammu, Mar 11: Police Establishment Board (PEB) has been constituted in J&K to discourage political interference in police transfers and decide about transfers, promotions and other issues of officers below the rank of DSPs. Due to continuous political interference in the transfer of SHOs and others below the rank of DSP, some officers got important postings one after the other while others got ignored only because they had no political connections. This forced PHQ to constitute PEB, police sources said. The PEB's main function would be to rationalise the process of transfers and promotions of Inspectors and other below DSP rank officers, and redress their problems, sources informed. Apart from the State police chief, who would head it, it would have eight other members, including a special DGP, five ADGPs, and the IGPs of Jammu and Kashmir regions. It would also have AIG as its member. Sources said PEB members had been asked to work as per the prescribed norms and not give weightage to the recommendations of politicians. Only those recommendations of politicians would be considered which were found genuine, the sources added. |
