Early Times Report

rajouri, Mar 11: Expressing their concerns over non supply of ration for last few months, the Rajouri people are up against Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for its failing to provide ration for the last two months and especially on the occasion of holy Shivratri.
People have expressed their resentment over the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and over rumours in air that instead flour (Atta) the department will provide raw wheat.
Residents of Rajouri town have categorically refused to accept Wheat if provided by the CAPD department to the ration card holders.
"In Rajouri town people neither have time to stand in long queue for their turn to grind Wheat nor the town has sufficient grinding facilities" said one Baldev Singh.
Putting question mark on the non supply of flour, former CAPD Minister Ch Zulfkar Ali said that the "Department has violated its own order No 56- CAPD- 15 which says that the state has to procure 40 percent of wheat and 60 percent of flour. Why the department has procured 100 % wheat and why people have been deprived of flour" said Ch Zulfikar Ali, former CAPD Minister.
Nazir Shah Asstt Director CAPD said that as employees were engaged in preparing the lists of the beneficiaries under NFSA. "The ration for the last two months could not be made available to them. People especially in urban areas have refused to accept Wheat instead Atta and the matter has already been brought into the notice of higher authorities" said Nazir Shah, Assistant Director CAPD.
Meanwhile, according to reliable sources the additional ration released by the government of India for the people for the month of December and January under 2011 census has reportedly not been distributed among the beneficiaries.
Raising a finger of suspicion former CAPD minister Ch Zulfikar Ali said, "Where the additional ration for the two months (December and January,2016) has gone as the department didn't provide additional quota of ration as per 2011 census besides the CAPD officers have written letters to the higher authorities authenticating the non-supply of additional ration and Deputy Commissioners were also aware about this.
Former minister also demanded investigation into this matter. Ch Zulfikar Ali also added that the decision to implement NFSA in the State was taken in haste by the Governor's Administration.
