Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar12: In a startling revelation around 150 employees in Power Development Department (PDD) Anantnag Division, have never been transferred for the past more than ten years while as 43 among them are enjoying services in their respective comfort zones since more than 20 years. Executive Engineer (PDD) Anantnag in response to an Right to Information (RTI) Act filed by the renowned RTI activist and Chairman Right to Information Foundation of India, Alayee Faizan has revealed that out of total 421 employees 142 have been staying in the same division since ten years.
Depicting grimy picture of maladministration, the information provided by the (EA) under (RTI) has informed that out of these 142 employees 43 have been enjoying work in their choicest places since twenty years.
In what could be described as nepotism and monotony of government departments, fifteen officials are working since 1980 in the same division.
The favoritism and egocentrism of public servants has lead to nepotism and poor workmanship in government departments. This cannot be also ruled out that the employees who have been enjoying choicest workplaces might be patronized by the politicians.
Sources in this regard told 'Early Times' that undue benefits showered by the politicians to their pets has marred government departments to a very large extent with bureaucrats seemingly unmoved over the mounting artificiality.
"Since the Governor N.N Vohra has taken charge of the state, government officials have been on tenterhooks. Peoples elected government be it PDP, NC or Congress for many reasons have never been serious over the insincerity of officials which has put question mark on their genuineness," they said.
Sources said that none of the officials have seriously discharged their duties nor they have been rebuked or any departmental actions were taken against them.
"Most of them have politically influential which is the only reason as to why they have never been transferred to any other place, from boss to peon everyone is doing what they deem fit," sources added. They said that the time is ripe to initiate an inquiry as to why and how these employees have never bore the taste of transfers "Governor should immediately initiated and inquiry through a credible agency to ascertain the cause"
Sources said that the corruption and nepotism in (PDD) Anantnag has taken heavy toll on consumers who have been hitting the roads for poor power supply with the government seemingly in deep slumbers to address their genuine concerns.
