Nitesh Sangral ET Report Jammu, Mar 12: To appease a former Minster for Health and Medical Education Department and on his alleged directions, an order was issued to raise medical shops on the premises of Government Medical College and Hospital and its associated hospitals by higher ups without taking necessary permission from authorities concerned. Interestingly, a medical shop has been raised overnight opposite the emergency ward of GMCH, Jammu, in the alleged presence of higher ups of Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd as well as a trusted lieutenant of the ex-minister. If sources inside GMCH are to be believed, since the withdrawal of petition from the court, the former minster is allegedly pressurising the concerned officials for issuing order to raise 57 medicals shops in all hospitals of Jammu province. "Moreover, the tender has been given to 'Sahyog Enterprise', a Delhi based company, due to the intervention of some acquaintances of the ex-minister and also a few influential persons who are said to be having a share in the business activity," an official of JKMSC, wishing anonymity, alleged and added instructions had been issued to Medical Superintendents of GMCH and associated hospital to allot space and raise the shops as soon as possible. "While they wait for allotting space, the trusted lieutenant visited hospital and identified space without asking the concerned authority of the hospital and constructed medical shop opposite the emergency ward of GMCH, Jammu, overnight," sources alleged, saying that after the issue was raised by some people that it would cause problems in the movement of ambulances and on intervention of H&ME department, following the shop was dismantled. However, Medical Superintendent of GMCH, Jammu, Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal said that as the issue came to their notice, the shop was dismantle by the authorities of GMCH. However, senior officials of the GMCH said if anyone raised shop or something else on the government premises without taking permission, the action should be taken under law but in this case, no action was taken as infuential people were present on the spot while the shop was being raised. Later, when the matter came to the notice of media, GMCH principal held a meeting with Medical Superintendents of GMCH and associate hospitals and decided that a committee would be formed to allot space inside the hospitals. |
