Bovine smuggling bid foiled, two held | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, Mar 12 : Police today claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of two bovine smugglers and rescuing thirteen (13) animals from their clutches during a naka checking along Jammu Srinagar Highway near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal of Ramban district. "The accused have been identified as Mohd Tahir s/o Mohd Ayoub Mir r/o Hanjana Thakra and Mohd Boshu s/o Alif Din Gujjar r/o Khanikot -Arnas Reasi, police said. Police said at about 1730 hrs during Naka checking at Jawahar Tunnel, police intercepted a truck bearing registration No JK02AD- 1279 on way towards Srinagar from Jammu. "The truck was driven by driver namely Mohd Tahir and has co occupant Mohd Boshu and found thirteen animals loaded in the truck but both occupants failed to provide any documents in regard to transport the animals, police said. Police said that both the persons were transporting bovine animals from Jammu towards Kashmir without any permission and thus were arrested on the spot. "A Case u/s 188 rpc 3 pca act has been registered in Police station Banihal. Both the accused persons have been arrested and truck seized the truck. This arrest was made by SI Mohammed Irfan ICPP Jawahar Tunnel, under the close of supervision SHO Banihal Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar ,Dy SP Rafiq Chowdhary SDPO Banihal and Randeep Kumar SSP Ramban, police said. |
