Poonch, Mar 29 : The nationwide campaign 'clean India' titled as 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' is virtually shown a 'thumb down' in Poonch and the Bus Stand Poonch is the 'writing on the wall' for the utter failure of the Municipal Committee. Locals alleged that every year during the rainy season overflowing of drains creates havoc like situation in the entire area, as its filthy water flows into the low lying shops and garbage spreads all across the locality. Traders and locals residing besides Bus Stand Poonch also have alleged that Municipality Poonch has totally failed to manage the situation. As the Bus Stand presents ugly look to the visitors, a trader said, which gives a wrong perception to the visitors but we are helpless as they say first impression is last impression and visitors often get a wrong notion about the condition of historic city of Poonch. The trading community resented that though the authorities of the MC Poonch are aware about this, yet no remedial measure has been initiated so for in this area, on its part. "Many a times we brought this matter into the notice of concerned department, yet no initiative has been taken to resolve this problem permanently and everybody is just doing the lip service," some lamented.
Wali Mohd Sheikh of Loran, Kapil Verma, Pamma Ji, Rakesh Sharma and others resented when they to Bus Stand Poonch what they could get from the situation at Bus Stand as main place of Poonch was just dotted with piles of garbage.
They have appealed DDC Poonch M Harrun Malik to take this matter personally and solve this problem and give new outlook to the historic city of Poonch |
