Mendhar, Mar 29 : Duo mother and daughter got burried in debris of a hillock which caved in while they were digging clay in Dabraj village of Sagra area here today. The mother received multiple fracture while her teen daughter died on the spot.
Asia Kousar 15, daughter of Manzoor Ahmed and her 45 year old mother Kulsum Akhtar were buried under debris of loose rock when they were digging a special clay used to decorate homes for special functions and marriages as per local traditions in remote areas. ‘Asia died on the spot while her mother received multiple injuries and fractures, the eye witness said. Soon after the incident locals rushed to spot and informed the police. A police team led by SHO Mendhar Anzar Mir reached the spot. In the meantime Ist Mahar unit stationed at Sagra also reached to the spot and started rescue operation along with Police and locals. Both Mother and daughter were evacuated from joint rescue operation but Asia was found dead while her mother was shifted to SDH Mendhar in critical condition from where she was referred to DH Rajouri for specialized treatment. Before being shifted to Rajouri the injured mother attended last rites teenage daughter. Sadly enough duo had gone to bring special clay after Asia’s marriage was settled. Meanwhile locals have hailed the role of Army and police for timely rescue operation. |
