JAMMU, Mar 29: The Safaiwalas working in JK Indian System of Medicine (ISM) has appealed the Governor to release funds in budget for their wages. In a petition addressed to the Governor, the Safaiwalas said that they are working in JKISM Department as Safailwalas and work full time in different JKISM Centres since 1987 and almost all them have engaged prior to bifurcation on consolidated basis at remuneration of Rs 10 per month which has been enhanced from time to time at Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 900 per month. The Safailwalas further stated that since the wages they were getting had not been sufficient, the government was urged to provide them minimum wages under Minimum Wages Act but the concerned file is moving from one officer's table to another's without any positive decision in their favour.
