Excise sleuths nab female bootlegger, destroy 1,500 Kilo litres of Lahan | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31: Excise sleuths conducted separate raids in Kathua, Samba and Udhampur district to put a check on illegal distilleries and arrested woman bootlegger besides destroying 1,500 kilo Ltrs of Lahan and 150 pouches of illicit liquor which was recovered during these simultaneous raids in three districts. "The accused has been identified as Munna Devi w/o Kaku Ram of Dudu Basantgarh of Udhampur district who was arrested for making illicit distillation and accordingly was booked u/s 48 of the J&K Excise Act, official spokesperson said. Accord8ing to official spokesperson, under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Excise Team Kathua under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta and Excise and Taxation Officer, Eradication Wing Jammu, Suresh Kumar raided the Lower Saktachak, Dhabwal, Muthi, Khanwal, Tanda, Budhi, Veersochak and other adjoining areas in Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. Similar raids were conducted by Excise and Taxation team Samba under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Samba Mrs. Tina Mahajan while raids in Udhampur district were conducted by Excise and Taxation team Udhampur under Excise and Taxation Inspector, Udhampur Rajesh Sharma. "In the process more than 1500 kilo ltrs of Lahan, 150 pouches of illicit liqour, two bottles of illicit liquor were recovered by the raiding teams which was later destroyed by the team on spot. At Dudu-Basantgarh one lady Munna Devi wife of Kaku Ram was arrested for making illicit distillation and booked under Section 48 of the J&K Excise Act. |
