Travel agent collects 'hafta for SHO' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 31: A police station SHO in Jammu district has allegedly been minting money nowadays through 'unfair' means. He is alleged to have authorised a travel agent to make collections on his behalf from bus operators and others for unlawfully allowing them to park their vehicles by the roadside and other no-parking areas. The police station falls in an area where hundreds of inter-state and inter-district buses come daily to pick and drop passengers. Soon after the SHO took over the police station, he put a ban on the parking of these buses by the roadside. This had a direct bearing on their business, so some bus operators called on him, but he returned them, saying he would charge extra money from them for allowing them to park their passenger vehicles by the roadside and other no-parking zones in his jurisdiction," police sources alleged. Later, a travel agent developed 'understanding' with the SHO and negotiated with the bus operators. "He now collects money from the bus operators and others doing unlawful activities in the area and supplies it to the SHO," sources alleged. The travel agent was now a link between the law-breakers and the SHO in the area, sources said. |
