Jasrota Temple faces official neglect

Kathua, Mar 31: A famous ancient Hindu temple at gateway of J&K in Jasrota, 15 km from Kathua town, is facing official neglect. Thousands of devotees throng during navratras and throughout the year, temple attracts devotees but fails to seek attention of district administration.
The temple is deprived of basic amenities like water , Power supply and road connectivity.
Sandhya Gupta, a devotee hailing from Jammu reached here with family to worship in the temple but worried about shortage of facilities in one of the ancient temple of the district.. Gupta said shortage of water affects sanitation facility and drinking water supplier appliances. She said Management of the temple works hard to provide facilities but district administration should also come ahead to facilitate the devotees in the temple. She sought special attention of Tourism department to develop the temple alike in Kashmir. Dr Santosh Gupta, another devotee, hoped to Governor and new expected government to release funds for the development of infrastructure of the temple. She added that shortage of basic amenities affect sanitation, Park, langer and inns of the temple which are the need of the hours.
Indu Bhushan Sharma said sufferings raised due to negligence in the part of district administration as there is no power supply for 15 days and navratras are on the door that affects preparations of the holy week. He sought special attention of J&K government and district administration.
Jagdish Singh Jasrotia, President of the Kali Mata temple trust said 4 km link road from National highway to temple is in worse condition where it's hard for devotees to reach in the temple. He said administration inaugurated number of blacktopping works in Kathua town but did not do any effort to facilitate devotees who are suffering for long and raised their demand for blacktopping the road in several times before concerned authority. He demanded double lane road from Rajbagh to Jasrota Temple.
Jasrotia said it must be social cum professional duty of officials to provide basic amenities without highlighting during Navratras festival but even after several reminders, no initiative has been taken till day. He demanded separate Electric transformer for temple besides uninterrupted power/water supply during Navratras.
The inhabitants of Jasrota village also said power, water supplies badly affected in the temple besides bad road connectivity and sought it before Navratrs.
