Retired officials re-employed in JKPSC for years | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 31: Notwithstanding the fact that State has an army of nearly one million unemployed qualified youth, but instead of creating opportunities for this gullible lot, various public sector institutions including Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) have re-employed retired employees for the last many years. Sources informed Early Times that five employees, who were retired many years back, have still been working in JKPSC and handling very important works including conduct of various exams. Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat had retired from the post of Under Secretary from JKPSC, in the year, 2011 but for the last five years he has been working on the post of consultant in Commission. Hakim G Geelani had retired from Commission in the year 2007 but for the last more than nine years he has been on the post of consultant, besides Pritpal Singh had retired in 2012 but has also been working as consultant. Moreover, two more employees Chuni Lal and PS Sodi have also been working as consultant in JKPSC after their retirement from the Commission. Moreover, another official who was deputed in the Commission on deputation basis and was transferred few months back, has reportedly returned back to the Commission after a brief spell in a Government department. "Most of the these retired employees are working as consultants on extension basis and after every three months, further extension is granted in their favour", sources said, adding that for the last many years these have been working in Commission and Government has failed to provide regular staff to Commission. Even as no official of JKPSC was available for comments, an insider in the Commission informed Early Times that for the last many years, Commission authorities have been facing dearth of staff and writing to General Administrative Department (GAD) for staff but so far no staff was deputed there. The official further said, "Commission requires trained staff and repeated letters have been written to GAD for sending staff. Due to staff shortage, services of retired officials are being taken by Commission for the last many years and it is not any new development". |
