Students to expose JU VC before Vice-President
3/31/2016 11:56:31 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 31: Up in arms against alleged dictatorial and anti-student attitude of Vice-Chancellor Prof RD Sharma, various student organizations are set to expose the incumbent VC before Vice-President Hamid Ansari during the latter's visit to Jammu University in connection with 16th Convocation on April 2.
These student organizations, including Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, National Secular Forum, Jammu Youth Forum and others, are planning to hold demonstration during convocation and submit their respective memorandum to the Vice-President, highlighting omissions and commissions of RD Sharma during his one year tenure as the Vice-Chancellor.
Worried over the intelligence reports in this regard, sources said that the Vice-Chancellor is running from pillar to post to get the proposed protests cancelled by influencing the agitated students. For the purpose, sources added, RSS top leaders and a former National Conference Minister are being approached though no assurance has yet been conveyed to the VC.
According to the sources, the intelligence agencies have confirmed reports in this regard and the same has also been conveyed to the senior Police officers, who are looking after the security arrangements for the VVIP visit. Besides, sources added, the Vice-Chancellor has also been apprised of the situation and asked to convenience the annoyed student organizations against resorting to agitation before the Vice-President.
While NSF and JYF are well known for their stand against RD Sharma because of his negative approach towards the students' issues, the ABVP is up in arms following denial of permission for holding a blood donation camp inside the university. Besides, some senior Professors of the Jammu University and JUTA members are indirectly supporting these student organizations to expose RD Sharma before the Vice-President, sources informed.
