Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Mar 31: Alleged negligence and carelessness of authorities concerned have spoilt the standard of education at Government Higher Secondary School, Rahmoo, counted once as a premier educational institute in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. The institute was yet to go with the tide as same subjects were being taught there since its establishment in 2003, students said. "We are being taught with limited subjects like English, Urdu, Political Science, Education and Information Practice which have very less or no scope," Shayista Nabi, a student, said. "There is no variety of subjects," she said while adding, "we are left with no option other than to opt for these subjects." "We have time and time again demanded for the subjects like Statistics, Geology, Environmental Science, Islamic Studies or for that matter Geography. Ironically even after 15 yrs of its establishment, we are yet to see any setup of commerce faculty in the institute," she said. "In an institute imparting (co-curricular) education to a roll of around 400 students, the teaching faculty is also showing a lackadaisical approach towards their job," she alleged. When contacted, school vice-principal Mohammad Shafi Rather said the institute was going through severe crisis. "The paucity of funds is taking a severe toll on the overall functioning of the institute and we can't help it. There is even no laboratory for medical students," he remarked. Meanwhile, the students have sought the intervention of directorate of school education to mitigate their sufferings. |
