Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31: Rakesh Sharma, Inspector General, Border Security Force, Frontier HQ Jammu, son of the soil superannuated from service today after rendering more than 32 years distinguish service to the Nation and BSF. According to BSF spokesperson, Outgoing senior official has commanded one of the most sensitive Jammu Frontier of the Force for all most 2 years during the crucial and highly tensed period of last decade. "Rakesh Sharma IG BSF had exhibited exceptional leadership qualities during the intense cross border firing from Pakistan and always led the BSF troops from the front, BSF spokesperson said while adding, "his strategic planning and execution of same on ground, forced the Pak Rangers to stop their menace and come on table for talk." He added that under his leadership Frontier Jammu won all the Five Force level prestigious trophies i.e. Maharana Pratap Trophy; for Best Border Management, Ashwini Kumar Trophy for excellence in Training & Sports events, Rajabhasa Shield for excellence in using Rajbhasa Hindi in official works, General Choudhary Trophy to 192 Bn and DG's Banner to 89 Bn BSF during the year 2015. During his 32 years' service in BSF Rakesh Sharma, a native of Jammu has served almost all the theatres of the Force including high altitude area of in Kargil Sector, Doda District and Kashmir valley during peak militancy, deserts of Rajasthan, jungles of North-East, prestigious Training Institutions of the Force and staff officers at various positions. He has also served on deputation in NSG for five years and was instrumental in bringing large number of technical changes. In recognition of his dedicated service to the nation, he was awarded President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2006 and President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2012, besides 07 DG BSF Commendation Roll, 01 DG NSG Commendation Roll, 01 DG (Police) Commendation Roll and 01 Army Commander's Commendation Card during his career. Today the outgoing official called on the Governor, Chief Secretary and DGP J& K and expressed his sincere gratitude for all the supports and guidance to him and BSF during his command of Frontier Jammu. Here it needs to mention Mr Sharma has been keen mountaineer in student age and during his initial service in BSF and also keen Golfer. On this occasion, BSF Officers and Men organized various functions to bid fare well their beloved Commander Rakesh Sharma IG and his wife in highest force traditions with bidding emotions. |
